Congrats... but you aren't the first.

Congratulations on a nice looking fully featured EV. I wished I could make it down to your unveiling today. The news story said that you were the first EV company in Oregon. I'm surprised you didn't know about NEVCO based there in Eugene! They haven't been in business for a while. Their website is still up at www.nevco-ev.com. Your car, however, is quite a bit more substantial than a Gizmo. You can see mine at http://www.evalbum.com/1328.

Good luck, and I hope you are a great success! I love driving a small EV.

David,

Thanks for the feedback! That's a really nice looking Gizmo that you own. I'm happy to see you're active in EV culture and own a Gizmo.

I actually was unfamiliar with Nevco, but it's thanks to the work of the early innovators like Nevco, that Arcimoto can be in business today.

Thanks for sharing!

Cool!

What limits the speed to 55mph? 62hp seems like enough power to go much faster.

WannaGoFaster,

Great question! I'll pass that along to our Research and Development team and get you an answer!

It will of course go faster. Maybe an appropriate question would be (as the customer) what would you like the top speed to be? A simple adjustment to the acceleration curve or mechanical gearing will change the acceleration and top speed.

Also, the whole inspiration for Aricimoto was from another Oregon EV, the BugE. Here are the details in the founder's own words:
